October 2019 KYACHW Member Meeting

The October 28th KYACHW Full Association Meeting will be held starting at 10:00 am at Montgomery County Health Department, 108 E. Locust St, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.  The full association meeting will start at 10:00am and a brief Board meeting will follow. April Smith, Health Educator II with Montgomery County Health Department, plans on providing Narcan training from 12:30pm-1:00pm. Every participant will receive a Narcan kit that day. The May 21st KYACHW Full Association Meeting was held starting at 10:00 am at Natural Bridge State Resort Park, 2135 Natural Bridge Road, Slade, KY 40376. The meeting was held in the Woodland Center. Parking was at the Lodge with a walk to the Woodland Center from the lot. Vivian Lasley-Bibbs conducted “Bridges to Health” Training starting at 10:00 am. This was a 4-hour training, so it lasted until 2:30 pm with lunch included in that time. A brief KYACHW Board Meeting followed the training and all association members were welcome to attend. All business was concluded by 3:00 pm. 

We will only be having coffee and water available during the meeting. KYACHW will cover lunch costs at the lodge. All KYACHW members are invited. If you know someone who would like to attend free of charge, they will need to register as a member.

Angela Cooper from KY Voices of Health will be at the meeting to video CHW’s for a project they are working on, and Robert Shapiro has asked to interview some CHW’s for a research program through UK.


The first board meeting of 2019 was on January 14th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. That meeting was held at Cattleman’s Steak House, 304 Silver Lake Drive, Mt. Sterling 40353.

The March 13, 2019 KYACHW board meeting was held at the Montgomery County Health Department from 10:00-11:00 am with the full association meeting following from 11:00am-2:00pm. We heard reports from each of the committee chairs. Special guest speaker Kristal Hankinson spoke about Trauma Informed Care.  Angela Cooper from Voices of Health was set up to video those would wanted to talk about being a CHW. These short segments will be on  a big screen during our 4th Annual KYACHW Conference.
